Pedestrians along with drivers have a responsibility to demonstrate safe behaviors when walking/running at the Lab to ensure their safety and the safety of those around them. Here are some safety tips to follow:
Pedestrians along with drivers have a responsibility to demonstrate safe behaviors when walking/running at the Lab to ensure their safety and the safety of those around them. Here are some safety tips to follow:
- Use crosswalks. Drivers are more likely to expect you in crosswalks and react accordingly
- Pedestrians must use designated walkways
- Be mindful of uneven walking surfaces
- Avoid distractions such as using your cellphone while walking
- Hold onto or hover your hand over a handrail while walking on stairs

Some of the pleasures of working at the Lab are its open spaces and walkability. Now that many more people are returning to Lab sites to work, it’s time to re-familiarize ourselves with pedestrian safety. We posed some questions to Traffic and Pedestrian Safety Subject Matter Expert Jonathan Cabrera who shared ways to stay safe while working and walking around the Lab.
